John Martin Cianella
John M. Cianella, age 76, of Millcreek Twp., died suddenly while attending Mass on Sunday, September 23, 2018. He was born in Erie on June 26, 1942, the son of the late John F. and Rose A. Pelligrinelli Cianella. John was employed at American Sterilizer; starting in 1962 where he eventually became Director of Information Systems. In 2000, he was promoted to Vice President of Information Systems at Steris in Mentor, OH. He retired in December 2004.
John was a devoted member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church since its inception. He was an avid reader, enjoyed computers and technology, was a Cleveland Indians and Browns fan; attending Spring training many times in Good Year, AZ., and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Susan Tautin Cianella, four children: John, Joseph, Julie (Bethany), Jason (Amanda), one sister Adele Cianella Bethune (Douglas), six grandchildren: Joseph, Nicholas, Paige, Hannah, Sadie Jane, Derek John, and a great-granddaughter Viviana, one niece and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and are invited to a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 2401 West 38th Street, Erie, on Saturday September 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Private interment.
