Obituary of Irene A. Martin

Irene A. Martin, age 96 of Washington Twp. and formerly of Hershey Rd., passed away at her daughter’s home on Sunday December 2, 2018 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Erie on February 26, 1922, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Jankowski Kowalewski.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ora Lee Martin on February 10, 1994; two grandchildren, Heather and Dennis Jr. and her siblings, Esther Akus, Gertie Kramer and Steve, Leonard and Ray Kowalewski

Irene worked at General Electric for many years and was a former member of St. Matthew’s in the Woods Catholic Church.  Irene enjoyed, reading, playing cards, Yahtzee, flower gardening and taking long rides on country roads. 

She is survived by two children, Dennis Martin and Christine Martin; four grandchildren, Michelle, Austin, Danielle and Jeffrey and one great-grandson, Matthew.

Funeral services were private and held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements are under the care of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
