Obituary of George Peter Christos
It is with great sadness that the family of George “Gogo” Peter Christos announce his passing on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the age of 90 years. A native of Erie, George graduated from East High School and served in the United States Coast Guard. From there, he started several businesses as owner of B&C Construction, The Grecian Key Restaurant, and Presque Isle Bowling Lanes. George also had investments in real estate property in Erie. He was a long-time active member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and was an active participant in starting the now annual Greek Festival 31 years ago.
George was the son of Anthodesme (Anna) and Peter Christos who were originally from Kalamata, Greece and who rooted their family in Erie. George is survived by his children, George Christos, Jr. of Erie, Serena Christos Elias of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, three grandchildren: Taylor, Nicole, and Christopher Elias, also of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, three siblings: Bess Valiant of Seattle, Washington, Mary Karas of Closter, New Jersey, and Nick Christos of Light House Point, Florida. George was preceded in death by his wife Betty Christos and his former wife Edith Bartone Christos, both of Erie.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Tuesday January 15, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Trisagion Prayer Service will be conducted by the Very Reverend Theofanis Nacopoulos at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 4376 West Lake Rd. on Wednesday January 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
