Mary E. Mollberg Amendola
Mary E. Mollberg Amendola, age 67, passed away at her residence with dignity and grace surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 23, 2008 after a courageous five-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on January 6, 1941, the daughter of the late, Thurston and Virginia Yerkey Mollberg.
She was a 1958 graduate of Academy High School. She was employed as a secretary at GTE and was also a receptionist and secretary at the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center. She was a member of St. George Roman Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Lawrence Park Golf Club, Cove Cay Country Club in Clearwater, FL, and former member of the Penn Briar Athletic Club where she played tennis, and was a former president of the PTA at St. Boniface. She enjoyed reading, golfing, gardening and spending cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary also loved spending time with her many dear friends.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Robert P. Amendola, two daughters, Deborah A. Amendola, Lisa M. Gingenbach and her husband, Fritz, and one son, Robert P. Amendola, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer L., all of Millcreek, five grandchildren: Leah Cook, Derek, and Brianna Amendola, and Garrett and Tyler Gingenbach, three sisters: Lois Siegrist and her husband, William, Doris Peters, and Ruth Ann Brosnan and her husband, Ted, all of Millcreek, two brothers, Donald Mollberg and his wife, Polly, of Hamilton, OH, and William Mollberg and his wife, Carol, of Erie. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Wednesday for prayers at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George R. C. Church at 10:30 a.m. Private interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the John Kanzius Cancer Research, Palace Business Center, 915 State Street Erie, PA 16501 or to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16501.
