Donald P. Elliott
Donald P. Elliott, age 88, formerly of Millcreek Twp., died Sunday, July 8, 2007 at the Fairview Manor. He was born in Erie on November 25, 1918, the son of the late Robert F. and Marion Pearl Tubbs Elliott.
Donald enjoyed his work on the open hearth at Erie Forge and Steel for 45 years. He served in the Marine Corps aboard the USS Randolph in the South Pacific during WWII. He was an active member and sang in the choir of St. Paul's Lutheran Church since moving to Millcreek in 1950. Donald was also a member of the Eagle's Chorus and RSVP singers; he was known for his beautiful tenor voice and ear for to harmony.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marie Nelson Elliott in October 2006. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Raymond, and sisters, Stella Gross and Ruth Banister.
Donald was happiest when surrounded by his family. He is survived by his son, Robert Elliott, and wife, Lisa, of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Sharon Patterson, and husband, David, of Millcreek; grandchildren, Trevor Elliott, Tina Lutz and Heidi Keinath; great grandchildren, Angela and Corinna Meadows, Cody Conway, and Samuel Keinath; and several nieces and nephews, including Jean Groves, Edith Konnerth, Aleen Weindorf, Don Werle and their families. The family would like to thank the staff at Fairview Manor for their loving care.
Friends are invited to a memorial service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. David McIlvried on Saturday, July 21 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment. Arrangements are being handled by Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506 or to the Second Harvest Food Bank, 1703 Ash St., Erie, PA 16503.
