Obituary of Carl Erdely

Carl J. Erdely Carl J. "Howdy" Erdely, age 68, of Millcreek Twp., died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. He was born in Erie on July 15, 1940, the son of the late Carl J. and Helen Erdely. He served during the Korean Conflict. Carl retired from the American Sterilizer after 29 years of employment. He was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club and Our Lady of Peace R. C. Church. He lived and breathed the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Yankees. He is survived by his wife, Hyun Soon (Kim) Erdely, children: Judy and Brian Heberle of Millcreek, Terry and Sue Erdely of Erie, Patrick and Michele Erdely of Tucson, AZ, three brothers: David and Fran Erdely of Millcreek, Jerry and Lucille Erdely of Millcreek, and Tim Erdely of Erie, grandchildren: Alexis, Michaella, Sidney, Meghan, Erin, Jacob, Amber, and Brandon. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Peyton Heberle. The family would like to thank the VNA Hospice for all their assistance. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. for prayers followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace R.
