Viola Catherine (Cathy) Etzel
Viola Cathy Etzel of McKean Twp., died Tuesday May 25, 2010 at her residence. She was born on September 27, 1938 in the family home in Seneca, PA, the daughter of the late, Anderson and Elva Cotton.
She was married to the late William G. Etzel, who died on August 26, 2006. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McKean. She started the prayer chain for the sick, counted money and took care of the altar. She and her husband also served communion to homebound members of the church. Cathy also organized and ran the Four Winds Arts and Craft Show for the Zem Zem Arab Patrol where her husband was president.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Cotton and one brother, Robert Cotton.
She is survived by five children: Rose Shirer (Mark) of Monroeville, PA, Becky Henry (Scott) of Germany, Robin Russin (Dennis) of Edinboro, William Etzel (Heidi) of Waterford and Robert Etzel of Pittsburgh. Cathy is also survived by eight grandchildren: Christopher Shirer, Brittany Shirer, Kayle Russin, Nathan Henry, Zachary Etzel, Brady Russin, Caden Etzel, and Kody Etzel, one brother, Ralph Cotton (Wilda) of Victory Heights, PA and their children: Betsy Graham (Douglas), Julie Buckholtz (Jeffery), Amy Hale (Randy), Brian Cotton, great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. for the funeral service. Private interment Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Trinity Lutheran Church, 4950 Old North Main St., McKean, PA 16426 or to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th St. Erie, PA 16505.
