Mary Helen McCarthy Farver Mary Helen McCarthy Farver, age 90, of Millcreek Twp. died Saturday, August 10, 2007 at Hamot Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Buffalo, NY on June 6, 1917, the daughter of the late Frank E. and Mary B. Creagh McCarthy. She was an Erie area resident for most of her life. Mary Helen was employed at and retired from the Millcreek Twp. School District as an administrator after 35 years of service. She enjoyed story telling, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank C. Schriefer who died on June 6, 1956, her second husband, Charles G. Farver, who died on March 21, 1998, and three brothers: Jack, William, and Robert McCarthy. One son, Thomas F. Schriefer and his wife, Jean E. Hickok, of Fairview, one sister-in-law, Marilyn McCarthy, of Erie, and many nieces and nephews survive Mary Helen. Friends are invited to a funeral service conducted by Pastor Snies on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Private interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the John Kanzius Research Fund c/o of the Erie Community Foundation, 127 West 6th. St. Erie, PA 16501.
