He passed peacefully in his sleep at Fairview Manor. John was born in Erie on November 12, 1948. He had a team of nurses and aides who adored him, along with the administration. Dad loved to tell jokes and they always enjoyed that. His sweet nurse, Erin, said that every nurse came to say goodbye to him that morning. His health had failed significantly in recent months. We are so grateful that he had received excellent care. The family was able to see him this past summer in window visits and one in person distance visit with Aunt Cathy and Uncle Ron. Dad’s sister, Cathy Seip and her husband Gene and family had been an immense support throughout his care. Dad struggled with mental illness for many years of his life; but even in that, he loved his family deeply and Sam was his greatest pride and joy in life. He loved pizza and watching Forensic Files. The holidays were his very favorite times of the year. He always had his Christmas tree up by Halloween. We are trusting he is whole and healed in eternity. Private services will be handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Private burial in Erie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Erie City Mission, 1017 French Street, Erie, PA 16501; which Dad had a great heart for their work.
