Obituary of Norbert Anthony Sitter, Jr.

Norbert “Norb” Anthony Sitter, Jr. Norbert “Norb” Anthony Sitter, Jr., age 77, of Erie, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the home of his loving daughter in Millcreek Twp. He was born on March 18, 1943, the son of the late Norbert A. and Helen E. King-Sitter, Sr. from Erie. Norb was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his adoring wife, Beverly J. Fenn-Sitter whom he was married to on July 12, 1969 and spent 44 loving years together. He was also preceded in death by one son, baby Ross Sitter and his brother David N. Sitter. He is survived by his devoted sister Joan Rossi of Erie, his brother Donald Sitter (Judy) of FL, Aunt Delores Tomes (Richard) of Erie, Sister-in-law Loretta Sitter of VA, daughter Sharon Grace Sitter-Gerlach (Michael) of Millcreek, son Steven P. Sitter, three grandchildren; Shannon C. Williams (James) of Erie, Brandon Anthony Sitter (Jennifer) of Erie, and Aaron M. Gerlach of Akron, OH, as well as five great-grandchildren: AvaLynn, Elliott, BaileyGrace, Liam, and Ezra, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Norb was an Air Force veteran; active during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Turkey. He worked at Bliley Electric Co. where he came to meet his wife Beverly. He also worked and retired from Erie Malleable Iron Co. (EMI) after 30 years of service. He was devout in his faith and was an active member of the First Alliance Church of Erie for decades whether to worship, usher, or proudly volunteer in the Moppets nursery as he loved caring for children. Norb had various hobbies throughout his life but was always most enthusiastic about those he shared with family and friends. He enjoyed camping with his children and grandchildren. He loved traveling with his wife. Personal hobbies included shortwave radio, computer clubs and games, at home projects on his and other’s homes in which he was always there to offer advice and a lending hand. He loved taking care of every member of his family with unconditional love and loyalty; setting an example for generations to follow. He also adored and enjoyed all his animals throughout his life. Norb was a remarkable man and will truly be missed by all. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.,4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with all Covid-19 precautions being enforced. A Funeral Service (COVID-19 precautions enforced) will be held there on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Scott Shuffield. Interment (with military honors) will be held at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
