Obituary of Karen Leigh Dachtyl

Karen Leigh (Clouser) Dachtyl, 69, of McKean PA, was surrounded by her husband and children as she was called to heaven after a courageous battle against thyroid cancer in Pittsburgh, PA, on December 17, 2020. Karen was born on May 21, 1951 and raised in Erie, PA. She was the daughter of the late Byron and Janice (Claybaugh) Clouser.
Karen was a proud graduate of Strong Vincent High School where she excelled in choir. Karen had many hobbies and interests. She designed the most beautiful stained-glass pieces for her family and friends. She enjoyed making crafts for all the different holidays. Karen enjoyed cooking and made anyone who came into her home feel like one of the family. She loved Frank’s cooking, no matter what restaurant he chose. Karen loved to travel as well.
In Karen’s younger years she worked at American Sterilizer Company. After taking time to raise her children, she went to work as a Supervisor with Associated Clinical Laboratories within St. Vincent Hospital. Upon retirement, Karen worked at Board and Brush doing what she loved.
Karen is survived by her husband of 47 years, Frank Dachtyl, her children, Holly (Dachtyl) Back and her husband John Back, Amy (Dachtyl) McFadden, Carrie (Dachtyl) Stubenhofer and her husband Jay Stubenhofer, Frank Dachtyl and his wife Cynthia (Gamble) Dachtyl, and Matthew Dachtyl and his wife Lindsey (Fritchman) Dachtyl. She left behind a sister, Noelle (Clouser) Dean and her husband Thomas Dean. Karen was blessed with many grandchildren: Anthony Stubenhofer, Brandon McFadden, Colin McFadden, Logan McFadden, Nicole Vile, Jeremey Stubenhofer, Ethan Dachtyl, Gerald Vile, Jack Farkasovsky, Isaac Dachtyl, Luke Farkasovsky, Michael McFadden, Allison Vile, Owen Dachtyl, Quinn McFadden, Aiden McFadden, Addison McFadden and Frank Dachtyl.
Karen was preceded in death by her sister Renee Clouser and grandson Stephen Farkasovsky.
A celebration of her life will take place at St. Francis Cemetery McKean, PA, on May 21, 2021. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506.
