Obituary of Alice May Kyle
Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice May Newlin Kyle, age 96, of Erie, passed away at UPMC-Hamot on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James A. Kyle, Jr., in 1994. Alice was born on January 7, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Willard and Mamie Harlan Newlin.
Alice was a strong, beautiful, and stubborn lady who lived life to the fullest. She loved getting together with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Alice loved doing her crossword puzzles and especially loved bowling. Even into her 90’s, she was still bowling four times a week and called Rolling Meadow Lanes her second home. She had a sign in her home which read “I eat to live but I love to bowl”. A special thanks to John Ferretti and his staff at Rolling Meadow Lanes for taking care of her over the many years of bowling there.
Alice was born in Pittsburgh and enjoyed rooting for the Pirates and especially the Steelers. When the Steelers were playing you could find her yelling at the TV and could probably hear her from outside the house.
Alice is survived by her sister Emma Jean Fiddler-Robson, her sons: James, III. (Janet), Ronald (Jamie), Gary (Sheryl), and David (Rochelle), her grandchildren: Jennifer Kyle Sweigard (Greg), Brian James Kyle (Rachel), Karin Kneissler Sirianni (Chris), Michael Kyle (Shannon Pietrasiewicz), great-grandchildren: Kayla Sweigard, Emma Sweigard, Sadie Kyle, Grace Sirianni, Anthony Sirianni, and Alexis Pietrasiewicz.
The family would like to thank the staff at Westlake Woods Assisted Living Home for taking good care of her during the six months she lived there. Also, a thank you to UPMC-Hamot and especially Dr. Weisenfluh, nurse Allison, and the rest of the staff for the care they gave Alice and the family over her final days.
Private services will be held at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. with interment at Erie Count Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Erie City Mission, 1017 French Street, Erie, PA 16501.
