Obituary of Marilyn J. Murphy

Marilyn J. Johnson Murphy Marilyn J. Johnson Murphy, age 90, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at her residence. She was born on July 6, 1930, in Sheffield, PA, the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen Swartzfager Johnson and step-mother Ima Johnson. Marilyn was a bookkeeper for many years and her last place of employment was the Sarah Reed Children’s Center. She was a member of New Hope Church and previously did volunteer work for the Achievement Center and the Erie County Library. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Michael Bowser. She is survived by her beloved husband James “Joe” Murphy, Jr., her children; James Murphy III (Judy), Michael Murphy and Kelli Bowser. Also surviving are her brother Darrell Johnson (Joanne), grandchildren: Michael Bowser (Aly), Nicholas Bowser, Megan T. Langdon, Reed Deluca, Katherine Miller (Jim), Alexander J. Deluca, and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service there at 7:00 p.m. All Covid precautions will be observed. Private interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church, 5440 Washington Ave., Erie, PA 16509.
