Obituary of Alan H. Wood

Alan H. Wood Alan H. Wood, age 72, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. He was born in Erie on May 20, 1948, the son of the late Howard “Glenn” and Mildred Wood. Alan was a 1966 graduate of Harbor Creek H.S. He was employed at American Sterilizer/Steris, retiring as a Supervisor after 32 years of service. Alan was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member and Elder at Sterrettania Alliance Church, and a former member of Keystone Lodge #455 F & AM. Alan loved to camp with his family and “chill” with his grandchildren. He was an avid Civil War buff, enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. Alan was lovingly called “Big Al” by friends and family and “Big Papa” by his grandchildren. Alan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Learn Wood; four children: Jeff Wood (Jennie), Amy Watt (Douglas), Debra Pecorella (Tony), and Andrew Wood (Christine), one sister, Joyce Wingenbach (Dick), one brother, Jerry Wood (Linda), twelve grandchildren: Dakota, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Ashley, Colby, Grace, Caleigh, Caleb, Owen, Brianna, Ethan, and Acacia, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Emeht. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service there on Saturday at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Mark Droll. Interment will follow at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
