Lois E. Finney
Lois Elisabeth Brow Lloyd Torok Finney, age 84, of Millcreek Twp. died Friday, April 3, 2009 at Manchester Presbyterian Lodge. She was born on October 3, 1924 in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late, Lynward H. and Dorothy G. Wheeler Brow.
She had been an Erie area resident since 1955. Lois attended public schools in Cranston, RI and obtained her BS Degree from the University of Rhode Island, and her Master's Degree from the University of Mass. She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church since 1955 and was church secretary for nine years as well as an educational assistant. She served in many other offices and church functions. She was secretary of the Millcreek Twp. School District for three years and Secretary for the Millcreek Twp. Supervisors in the Dept. of Recreation and Parks for five years. She was a member of the PTA (local and county offices), Girl Scout and Brownie leader, Presque Isle Woman's Club, an office holder in the Society of Mayflower Descendants, Sigma Kappa college sorority, and Phi Kappa Phi National Collegiate Honor Society.
Lois was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert S. Lloyd, her second husband, Julius Torok, one sister, Marcia J. Brow, and one brother Edward W. Brow. She is survived by her husband, Robert George Finney, two daughters; Virginia Lloyd of Dallas, TX, Constance Jones (Mark) of Tarpon Springs, FL, and their children; Brent and Lacey Weiss and Jaimee Ponce, two great-grandchildren, six sisters: Barbara Fletcher of Oviedo, FL, Phyllis Olsen (Robert) of Lake Placid, NY, Jeanette Dutcher (Richard), of Blairsville, GA, Lynda Fisher (John) of Sebago, ME, Dorothy Lion (Francis) of Bridgewater, VA, and Constance Day (Daniel), of Union, ME. Also surviving are one step-son, Gary Finney (Mary Margaret) of Erie, and his children, Valerie and Justin Finney, and one step-daughter, Sherri Horrigan (Richard) of Richmond, VA.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Tuesday for the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakewood United Methodist Church, 3856 West 10th St., Erie, PA 16505 or to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
