Obituary of Ruth R. Rhollans

Ruth Rathman Rhollans, passed away at her home surrounded by her sons, on Wednesday March 31, 2021. She was born on September 28, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH, to the late Albert and Matilda (Miller) Rathman. She graduated high school and business school and was employed as a secretary at Proctor & Gamble for 15 years. She married Donald Rhollans on December 12, 1959 and they moved to Erie in October of 1969. Ruth was a longtime member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, Methodist women and the Lydia-Ruth Circle. She was a member and past president of Presque Isle Garden Club. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and crochet and playing bridge. She and Don traveled by camper and trailer to many places in the U.S. and Canada with family and square dance friends. They square danced with several local clubs for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Donald, two brothers, Robert and Earl Rathman; two sisters-in-law, Linda and Ruth Rathman and one niece, Barbara Schmalz. She is survived by her sons, James (Wife Nancy) and Daniel; grandchildren, Lindsay Villalobos (husband Paco), Mary Ng (husband Andrew) and Daniel; great-granddaughters, Ella Villalobos and Rudy Ng, great-grandson, Oliver Villalobos; a niece, Madeline Heinrich and family and a grandniece, Tara Rosselot and family. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506, on Saturday April 3, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon. A private family funeral will follow, officiated by Rev. Bob Lewis of Lakewood United Methodist Church. Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
