Margaret Ellen McGinnis Burton
Margaret Ellen McGinnis Burton, 83 years young, a lifetime resident of Millcreek Township, passed away on Thursday morning, April 22, 2021, in the process of recuperating from a lower body injury incurred this past February.
She was born on January 26, 1938, the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Margaret E. McGinnis (Shannon). She was a 1955 graduate of McDowell H.S and a 1959 graduate of Villa Maria College. She married her husband Francis E. Burton on October 24, 1959. She always looked forward to planning her high school reunions, spending time with Francis’s west coast family, and travels to Cancun Mexico and Texas to visit their friends Kay and Herb Hafenmaier. She also enjoyed family holiday events that included plenty of good polish cooking, courtesy of her daughter in law Julia. She was a member and supporter of St. Jude R.C. Church and St. Jude school.
Up until the time of her injury, she continued to work every day at the family business, Marine Sheet Metal Works, founded in 1918 by her grandfather Edward H. McGinnis, with her business partners; her brothers: William and Thomas. Her son Thomas continues to support the business as well.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Francis, her parents Thomas E. and Margaret E. McGinnis (Shannon), and William's wife Ginny McGinnis.
She is survived by her younger brothers: Thomas McGinnis, his son Michael and daughter Laurie, William "Bill” McGinnis, his son Ryan (Kelly), his daughter Shannon Reid (Jason), her oldest son Thomas Burton (Rebecca) and their daughters: Chelsea and Alexis Conway (Brennan), her middle son Timothy Burton and his son Adam and daughter Amanda, and the youngest son David (Julia) and their sons: Andrew, Casey and Daniel.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory., Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and are invited to St. Jude R.C. Church on Monday, May 3, 2021 for the Funeral Service at 10.00 a.m. The Mass can also be accessed via live stream by going to St. Jude Apos.org website and hit the live stream link on the home page. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
