Obituary of Gregg G. Lee
Please share a memory of Gregg to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gregg G Lee, 75, of Erie, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday,
May 27, 2021. Born on April 19, 1946, he was the son to the late George Gregory & Katrina Jensen Lee.
Gregg was the middle child with two sisters, Joyce Showers and Gail Connors.
Gregg was a graduate of McDowell High School and the proud owner of Gregg Lee Painting for nearly 50
years. Gregg learned his strong work ethic working from a young age alongside his Dad at Elmer’s
Cottages on 12th and Peninsula. He went on to work briefly at Lord’s before starting his own business
that would become his namesake and life’s work. Gregg continued on the job even in recent months,
working tirelessly well into his “retirement”. The success of Gregg Lee Painting was all about the man that
Gregg was, someone that was hard-working, meticulous, and most importantly, liked by everyone that
had the good fortune of meeting him.
In addition to his business, Gregg loved to have fun and relax. He was an avid golfer having played every
nearby course in local leagues and playing at many more along the coast as he traveled often with his
golf buddies. Gregg also spent time bowling with a league, finally packing the ball away after there were
more splits than strikes. For many years, Gregg was the happy owner of his beloved boats spending
countless summers at the beach, water skiing, tubing, and drinking a few cold ones with his friends and
family. Gregg was also a bit of a dog lover and all the family dogs loved him right back, for his generosity
with the treats and his honest warmth. In recent years, Gregg enjoyed going to the casino and spending
time with his special friend, Gloria McGivern.
Gregg was always smiling and full of life. You would see the twinkle in his eye and know that he was
always ready for a good time and lots of laughter. Gregg was easygoing, good-natured, even trying to
lighten the mood for his family by fighting through the disease with his sense of humor right until the end.
One of a kind, Gregg will be sadly missed by everyone that knew and loved him, especially his closest
friends and family.
Gregg is survived by his children Katie Lee (Sean), Kevin Lee (Claire), Cindy Lee DeDionisio (Chris),
Chris Beiswanger (Rachel), and Ken Beiswanger. Gregg was also blessed with being a grandfather to
Dylan, Derek, Lorelei, Elanor, Kyle, Madeline, and great-grandfather to Arianna. Gregg was previously
married to Susan Margosian Lee for a loving 25 years. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many
more extended family and friends.
The family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team at UPMC Home Healthcare and Family
Hospice for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
