He won the coveted “Cow” (leather jacket) at the training academy as the top student. He was the first to do this in his district. Tom was a very eclectic person. He was a collector of many things from jewelry, coins, art, antiques and anything unusual. Tom enjoyed auctions, garage sales, treasure hunts and buying and selling his rare finds. He loved to travel. He visited 33 of the 50 US States and Canada before his retirement. Everywhere he went, he loved to visit local sites, casinos and try local food and treats. Tom was the all-around guy. He could cook, bake, pick berries, forage for mushrooms, grow orchids and vegetables, hunt, fish, bowl and organize great events. He was a family man and loved his family and friends. Tom was a deacon at the Word of Life Christian Center. He loved candy, especially gummy candy and always gave candy to others. He was a pizza connoisseur. He was a great pet dad to fish, frogs, a turtle, a cat, dogs and a pot belly pig. He mentored many people and would give anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it.
