Obituary of Zinaida Gidenko

Zinaida Gidenko Zinaida Gidenko, 88, of Erie., who loved to be called “Babushka” by her family, was called to Heaven on Friday, July 9, 2021. Zinaida was born on November 13, 1932 in Snezhnoye, Ukraine to the late Aleksey and Tatyana Petrenko Nefedov. Zinaida lived in Erie since November 1993 after moving from Ukraine. She was a loving “mom” to her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. Zinaida enjoyed gardening and sharing her harvest with friends and family. She was a devoted member of Church of Christ Savior. Her love of sharing candies and sweets to all the children of her church will always be cherished and missed. Besides her parents and sisters; Irina and Vera, Zinaida was preceded in death by her daughter, Valentina Mishenin. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Aleksandr Gidenko, her children: Ruth Gidenko, Vladimir Gidenko (Dina), Tatyana Sokolyuk (Pavel), Leonid Gidenko (Vera), Lidia Burykin (Anatoliy), 33 grandchildren and 38 great- grandchildren, and her sister Aleksandra Nefedov. Friends may call at the Dusckas Martin Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Church of Christ Savior 3503 Schaper Ave on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
