Obituary of Jaures Allah Golmen

Please share a memory of Jaures to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jaures Allah Golmen Jaures Allah Golmen, age 18, was called home to eternal life on Sunday, July 18th, 2021. In his short life, Juares was an incredible blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him. He taught us about the power of the human spirit, the importance of resiliency, integrity, humility, and doing all things with kindness. On October 7th, 2002, Juares was born in the Central African Republic to Rosalie Beninga and Eloi Mingabeang. At age seven, his family moved to Douala, Cameroon, where he excelled in academics and sports. In June 2015, he was honored by the Cameroon Minister of Environment & President of the National Assembly for earning the highest score on the national exams. In September of 2015, Jaures immigrated as a refugee to Erie, Pennsylvania, with his mother and four younger siblings. Jaures attended Roosevelt Middle School, where he immediately began positively impacting his classmates and teachers through his work ethic and determination to help others become the best version of themselves. Jaures' intelligence and determination allowed him to become proficient in English in less than a year and move onto honors classes. His teacher noted, "Jaures was the most extraordinary young human and well-rounded student I have had the privilege of teaching. Not only did Jaures have a brilliant mind, but he cared deeply about his peers and their success, often giving them pep talks and tutoring them. His classmates looked up to him; he was a genuine friend to all, and we are all the better for having known him.” Jaures graduated Magna Cum Laude from NWPA Collegiate Academy this past June and successfully earned 25 college credits while taking Advanced Placement classes at Gannon University. Jaures also shined as a superb athlete and played Varsity Tennis and Soccer for Erie High. He was chosen by his classmates to be the co-captain of the Erie High soccer team. According to his coach, “He was the perfect teammate and perfect player. He was a soft-spoken young man, but his demeanor and his work ethic were unmatchable. If he said something, the kids were prone to listen. He was a giving-type individual. That sometimes comes with experience in life, but at a young age of 18, he had it.” Jaures set multiple soccer records during his time on the Erie High soccer team. He was a star forward, leading scorer, and had seven game-winning goals during the 2020 season. Jaures attended Sacred Heart Church and was employed by Chick-fil-A, where he was well-liked by all he came in contact with, respectful to those around him, and always brought positive energy and an infectious smile. Jaures was looking forward to attending Penn State University-Main Campus this Fall with high hopes of making it as a walk-on for the PSU Soccer Team. His lifelong dream was to become a doctor, so he could make a difference in the lives of those suffering. Jaures' family meant everything to him. His spirit will be carried on by his mother, Rosalie Beninga, father, Eloi Mingabeang, brothers Thierry Doumana and Samuel Mingabeang, and sisters, Ornella Remadji and Miriame Menoudjou, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. Jaures lived a life that most of us could never imagine, one filled with adversity and outstanding accomplishments, sincere gratitude, and infinite hope for humanity. While our hearts will never be the same, we find peace in knowing that God has called Jaures home to use his goodness and purity for a higher purpose where the light of Jaures' soul will continue to shine. He will eternally rest in the hearts and minds of his family, friends, and all who loved him. Calling hours will be on Friday, August 6, 2021, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA 16506. A Funeral Service will be held there on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11 am, with a burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
