Obituary of Josephine Marie Wernicki

Josephine “Josie” Marie Wernicki, 74, of Erie, PA passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her memory. Josie was born in Erie, PA on May 27, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Marie Rose Curci and devoted wife of the late Peter Wernicki, the love of her life. A loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Josie is survived by her son Michael Wernicki, daughter-in-law Maura Evans, cherished grandson Maxwell Wernicki, sister Gloria Garcia, and many nieces and nephews. Josie was a beautiful, brave, and selfless soul who led an exemplary Christian life in service to God, family, and friends. Even in the midst of her own pain, she prioritized the needs of others. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and countless friends and community members. A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 26, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home on Monday morning for a prayer service at 9:15 AM, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
