Obituary of Iona Elizabeth Franz

Iona Elizabeth Weaver Franz Iona E. Weaver Franz, age 35, of Erie, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital on Friday, September 24, 2021, surrounded by loved ones; whispering words of love and comfort. She was born on January 7, 1986, preceded in death by her mother Joyce Ireland Concannon and her father William Weaver. She is survived by her loving and steadfast partner Jacob Henry Hardinger of Erie, five beautiful children: Kaytlynn Franz, Krischan Franz, Gabrielle Hardinger, Kaydin Hardinger, and Riley Hardinger, all of Erie. She was preceded in death by her brother Warren Preece, and is further survived by her brothers: Eric Concannon, Harold Preece (Tammy), Roger Copote (Lesley), sisters; Amanda Hull, Tracey Ziegler, several nieces and nephews, and many precious friends. A loving partner and devoted mother, Iona’s greatest joy was taking care of her family. She loved to cook; especially pierogis and goulash. Iona had a talent for art; creating beautiful crafts and drawings to adorn her home. She took pleasure in the simple beauty of flowers and was known to accept “one more” pet in need of a home. Iona also enjoyed watching movies and leisure afternoons kayaking at Presque Isle. She was down-to-earth, giving, welcoming, and quick with a hug. Iona will be remembered by those who knew and loved her, by many things, but especially for her smile. Beth Revis said, “And in her smile, I see something more beautiful than stars.” When you saw Iona’s smile, you saw and felt kindness, love, acceptance, and joy. Her smile was infectious and could light up a room. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until time of remembrance and sharing at 7:00 p.m. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
