Catherine Ann Danowski Peterson Mansfield
Catherine Ann Danowski Peterson Mansfield, 86, passed away, Sunday, September 26th at home with her loving husband by her side. Ann was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on April 28, 1935, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Niedzielski Danowski.
She graduated from Holy Trinity Grade School (1949), Saint Benedict High School (1953), Hamot School of Nursing (1956), and Chapman College with a BS in Health Science (1979).
Ann worked as a nurse at Hamot Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital (Phoenix, AZ) before joining the U.S. Air Force where she served as a nurse in California, Ohio, Azores, Taiwan, Greece, Minot, North Dakota, and lastly, Grissom, Indiana, where she retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
She was an active member of the Siebenbuerger Club, Elks Club, Sons of Lake Erie, American Legion, Saint Benedict’s Alumni Association, Society of Airforce Nurses, and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
She enjoyed winters in Florida, golfing, bus trips, and traveling with her husband Tom.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Verne Peterson, brother Joseph Danowski Jr, and sister Lucille Vernie.
Survivors include her husband Tom Mansfield and two brothers, Leo Danowski of Erie and Chester Danowski and wife Sharon of Albion. As well as her stepchildren, grandchildren, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 4216 Sterrettania Rd, Erie, PA 16506 on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Jude Church, 2801 West 6th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers or plants, Ann’s wishes are for memorial contributions to be made to a charity of one’s choice.
