Richard J. Fox
Richard "Dickie" Fox, age 71, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Hamot Medical Center. He was born in Belfast, N. Ireland on February 18, 1936 the son of the late John and Teresa Ralph Fox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Neill (Fox) and his nephew, Philip Doyle.
Dickie grew up in Belfast, N. Ireland, attended catholic schools and was the recipient of an academic scholarship to St. Malachy's College. He was a member of St. Gall's and Clonard Gaelic Athletic Associations and was an ardent sports fan. Dickie moved his family from Belfast to Edison, N.J. in 1970 and worked as a laborer, and then as a foreman at U.S. Gypsum in Jersey City. After many years he retired and moved to Erie to be with his family.
Dickie loved to sing and was invited to sing the Irish National Anthem at the Garden State Art Center in Holmdel, N.J. He was a kind and loving man with a ready smile, a quick wit and a generous nature.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Bridget Fox, two sons: Martin (and his wife Jane) of Millcreek and Michael (and his wife Magda) of Pensacola, Florida. He leaves behind four grandchildren; Richard, John, Cathy and Albert, a brother; Tom Fox and five sisters; Patti, Una, Geraldine, Vera and Antoinette.
The Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., is handling funeral arrangements, 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA 16506. There will be a private service on Monday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. for family and close friends.
