Obituary of Robert Allen VanWie Sr.

Robert “Bob” Allen Van Wie, Sr. passed away on October 28, 2021. He was born in Erie, PA on October 1, 1949, and was the son of Boyd and Annabelle Baine Van Tassell. Bob spent most of his career driving truck all over the U.S. He was passionate about music, and he passed that love down to each of his children. His favorites were country, bluegrass, and oldies. He also loved his westerns and old sitcoms. Bob bowled on a league with his family for many years and spent summers camping with them as well. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Although he was generally a quiet man, he was a natural storyteller and loved sharing his memories with family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna George Van Wie; son, Robert “Bobby” Van Wie, Jr. (Falisha); daughter, Amber Cornman (Jon); daughter, Brenda Medina (Daniel); and daughter, Bobbi-Jean Van Wie; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Margie Ebner, Boyd Van Tassell (Nancy), and Scott Van Tassell, and his nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Marks, Jr., his grandson, Daryl “DJ” Cornman, and his brother-in-law, James “Jim” Ebner. Friends may visit Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Road Erie, PA 16506, on Monday from 3-7 p.m. with a time of sharing at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
