Patty could claim the lyrics written by Leah Sandlin, “I may not have riches as some others may, but I have a mother who knows how to pray. There may be some things I've missed in my youth, but I have a father who stands for the truth”. Patty’s parents established a legacy of prayer and trust in God and His Word. This heritage has been multiplied, reaching out from her to her great-grand-children. The lyrics go on to say, “I have a goodly heritage, I'm blessed with things you can't see. I have a goodly heritage, and that is worth far more to me.” Patty loved her “goodly” heritage and her family abundantly always claiming the verse in Hebrews 10:23 that says, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.” Patty was a former member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed serving through music and children’s ministries.
Patty wanted to be a nurse, and although that dream did not come to fruition, it did not stop her from pouring herself into and caring for others around her. Having such a large family meant lots of opportunities to be together, reminisce, laugh, and support each other—which always filled her with joy. Patty gladly opened her home for visitors and made everyone feel wanted. Patty excitedly welcomed the next generation of babies with open arms and lots of wisdom. She also enjoyed walking in nature, crocheting beautiful blankets and clothes, reading her Bible, listening to her brothers sing and make music, square-dancing, old movies and westerns—especially anything featuring John Wayne.
