Obituary of Barbara Jean Toy

Barbara Jean (Kelch) Toy “Barb, Ma” age 82, of Millcreek Twp., formerly of Girard, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday November 20, 2021. She was born in Erie on March 18, 1939 a daughter of the late Lester Farrell and Mildred Ruth (Steinle) Kelch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Franklin S. Kelch. Barb was a 1957 graduate from Rice Ave. Union High School in Girard, PA and furthered her education, graduating from Thiel College in 1961 with a B.S. in Education. She was a teacher in the Evanston, IL School District and also taught in Hillside, NJ. Barb was a member of the Christian Education Administrator, was employed at the Church of the Covenant and the Christian Educators Directors in Westfield, NY. Barb was a member of the Woman’s Club of Erie, Albion Chapter #22 Order of the Eastern Star and the Erie Society for Genealogical Research (Founding member and past president). She loved quilting (patchwork of Love at St. Paul’s) playing piano, reading, camping and traveling. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 60 years, Leonard Eugene Toy; their children, Bryan Joseph Toy, Andrew Eugene Toy and Tamara Ann (Toy) Horowitz; grandchildren, Christopher, Ethan and Kendra Toy, Emma Horowitz and Joanna and Gretchen Toy Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506 on Wednesday November 24, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, and are invited to a funeral service on Friday morning November 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 3108 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506. Interment will be private in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
