Betty Pude Torrance
Betty Pude Torrance, age 93, formerly of Millcreek Twp. and various senior living facilities in Erie, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022, after a brief illness at LECOM Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Erie on March 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Herman and Adele Rohler Pude.
She had been employed at Huber Reversible Fan Co.
Betty and her husband Bert were founding members of Church of the Cross Presbyterian Church on Millfair Rd., Fairview, she was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Pioneer Church Garden Club, was a 4-H leader, volunteered at the Food Pantry. Betty and her husband were instrumental in starting Erie Hunt and Saddle Club, and were involved with horses for many years.
She enjoyed hiking, traveling, camping, gardening, and bird watching.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bert V. Torrance, Jr., who died in 2004 and a son-in-law James Anderson.
She is survived by three daughters; Karen Mazur (Joe) of Waterford, Kathy Preston (Michael) of St. Louis and Erie, Kris Anderson of Providence, RI, two sisters; Joyce Romesburg (John) of Erie, Geraldine Yosten of Phelan, CA, her grandchildren: Todd Mazur (Jen), Adam Mazur, Josh Mazur (Nicole), Mindy Mazur Wylie, Christopher Preston (Jessica), Robert Preston (Hannah), Kimberly Albanese (Anthony), Bryan Anderson (Karie), seventeen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID constrictions and family locations there will be a celebration of life for Betty in the summer of 2022.
All arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
