Obituary of Richard J. Lechner

Richard (Dick) J. Lechner, 80, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Pleasant Ridge Manor after a short illness. He was born on April 10, 1941 in Erie, the son of the late Carl B. Lechner and Dolores (Tellers) Lechner. Richard was a graduate of Cathedral Prep H.S. and Georgetown University. He was employed at several financial institutions over the history of his working career including; Manufacturers Hanover of New York City and First National Bank of Erie. He also spent time working at other regional businesses such as Tollgrade Communication, McCormick Coffee, and Serenity Hall/Crossroads. Richard enjoyed biking and running, photography, and later was interested in antique books; but he always loved to cook gourmet meals from the NY Times Cookbook for his family and friends. Richard was a friend of Bill W. for 44 years. He was a member of St. Scholastica Parish of Aspinwall, PA and then later of Saint Peters Cathedral of Erie. He is survived by his siblings: Carl B. Lechner II (Pam), Brenda Bigelow (Dana), and Mark Lechner; his daughters: Carolyn Lechner (Andrew Wilhelm) and Nancy Dolan (TJ), and grandchildren; Jared Dolan and Elana Dolan. Burial will be held at Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family, followed by a future announcement of a memorial service in celebration of his life.
