Obituary of Mary Ruth Vollentine

Mary Ruth “Molly” Kohlmiller Vollentine, age 67, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. She was born in South Bend, IN on February 6, 1955, to the late Elmer and Margaret Kohlmiller. She attended Villa Academy and Gannon College (University) and earned a degree in English/Communications as well as the prestigious Medal of Honor Award her senior year. She had a beautiful singing voice, spent years training in dance, and performed on college and Erie Playhouse stages. She and her husband moved to Florida where they raised their two children, the loves of her life. They returned to Erie in 2005 where she worked and retired from ACL. She was a very devoted mother and dedicated to her Catholic faith. Many people would describe her as a beautiful, generous, and selfless soul. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles and is survived by her husband of 38 years, Gerry, Sr., daughter, Carrie Vollentine of Cleveland, OH and son Nicholas Vollentine of West Hartford, CT, as well as her three brothers: Paul (Mary) of CA, Chris (Barbara) of GA, and Michael (Mary Ann) of Erie. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506 on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 4 pm until 8 pm and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Luke Catholic Church, 421 E. 38th Street, Erie, PA 16504 on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 11 am. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Molly was never a fan of wearing black, so the family encourages all who attend to wear bright, vibrant colors in celebration of her life! In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elmer F. Kohlmiller Scholarship Fund at Gannon University.
