Obituary of Yukona J. Slattery

Yukona “Connie” J. Lyle Slattery age 84 of Erie, passed away on Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Sarah Reed Senior Living. She was born in Ridgway, PA on March 8, 1938, a daughter of the late Chester B. and Jayne A. (Sheehan) Lyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, baby boy Zambrzycki in 1964. Connie lived in Erie her whole life after moving from Ridgway with her family when she was seven years old. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Connie graduated from McDowell High School in 1956, where she was a majorette for four years and was the head majorette in her senior year. She was also a member of the girl’s chorus while at McDowell. She retired from First National Bank after 31 years of service and previously worked at Marine Bank. She enjoyed golfing, shopping, reading, watching Hallmark movies, traveling and dining out. Connie was also very fond of sweets, particularly chocolate, donuts and cherry flavored pastries and pies. She loved spending time with her McDowell classmates and keeping in touch with her “bank ladies”. Her loved ones will always remember her timeless sayings, especially “Be careful” and “Everything that happens, happens for the best”. She is survived by her two daughters, Sherry Waller (David) and Stacy Stoner (Rick); their stepfather, James Slattery; one granddaughter Audrey Goett and one sister, Patricia Lasher (Russ). The family would like to thank the staff at Sarah Reed Senior Living for the excellent care and support. Funeral service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
