Obituary of Lucille Segal
Please share a memory of Lucille to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Almeda Lucille “Lucy” Segal was called Home on October 17, 2022. She was born on September 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Alfred and Florence Ayers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Segal, her brother Robert and her sister Eileen.
She celebrated her 90th birthday just 16 days prior to her passing. Lucy loved life, her family, quilting and baking. She was the bond that held her constantly growing family together. The Lord extended His hand to her and gently welcomed her Home before she lost the ability to live the independent, free life she loved so much. Her passion in life, after her family, was quilting and baking. She took great pride and pleasure in her beautiful creations and it filled her heart with joy to be able to create and gift her quilts to those she loved. The holidays were a special time for her in which she would happily share her baked goods with family, friends or anyone that needed a little extra love during that time of year. She lived a life that was full and never took a moment for granted. She is now living in a land of love and everlasting peace. There is no illness or suffering. She is safe, protected, loved and reunited with so many loved ones that have gone on before her. The sky is bluer and the stars shine brighter as a constant reminder that she will live on in our hearts which she blessed with so many years of joyful memories. She will continue to guide us as we learn to live life without her being just a phone call away. There is an emptiness in our hearts that will never be filled but one day, she will welcome each of us Home with her beautiful smile and wrap us in a quilt made of love while quoting the words of her favorite song…..”It’s good to touch the green, green grass of Home”.
Lucy is survived by her six children, Dave (Mari) Segal, Melinda (Bart) Segal, Rick (Lisa) Segal, Joe (Lynn) Segal, Tom Segal and Brian (Diane) Segal as well as ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service with interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery being held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity.
