Lois Janet Fuhrman Gouldsmith
Lois Janet Gouldsmith passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. She was born on May 28, 1936, to Ethan and Alice Edwards Fuhrman. She grew up on the Fuhrman’s Cider Mill property in Belle Valley and was so proud of her heritage.
She was the youngest of four and was preceded in death by all the “Fuhrman girls” including Doris Whipple and her husband Frank, who Lois adored like a brother, Mary Howell (Charles), Helen Crissman (Richard), who lived across the street from Lois in their retirement years and were so close.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved first-born son, Dale, who passed away from cancer at age 15, her parents Ethan and Alice Fuhrman, and her beloved dogs Koko and Brandi.
She is survived by her son, Kerry Gouldsmith (Helen), her daughter, Lisa Wertz (Michael), five grandchildren, whom she adored, Leah, Emily, and David Gouldsmith, and Gretta and Garrett Wertz and two great-grandchildren Alexa and Elan. She is also survived by a special niece, Christine Whipple, who she referred to as her “other daughter”. Other nieces and nephews also survive.
Lois loved card making with her daughters and made hundreds of cards that she shared with friends and family. Lois was an amazing mother and grandmother (her favorite title) and was always available to provide support, cooked great food, and gave so much love to her family. She was a single mom who worked as an accountant and retired many years ago from Rehrig Pacific Company where she met and made so many friends.
Lois was loved by all who met her and was like a second mom to her granddaughter Leah.
She will be missed for her beautiful heart and smile and her undying love for her family and friends.
At her request, private arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
Her family will celebrate her life everyday for the rest of their lives.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to Erie DAWN, 131 West 18th Street, Erie, PA 16501.
