Joan M. Wyatt Gehrlein
Joan M. Wyatt Gehrlein, age 82, of Millcreek Twp. died Tuesday June 10, 2008 at her residence from a type of ovarian cancer. She was born on October 18, 1925 in London, England, daughter of the late John and Alice Lee Wyatt of Morden Surrey, England.
Joan enlisted in the British Air Force during WW II, where she met and married her husband, Donald, who was serving with the 8th Air Force. Her main interests were family first, cooking, baking, sewing, artistic projects, computer communications, gardening, animals, birds, and caring for brain impaired individuals.
In addition to being a loving wife and companion to her husband, she was devoted to her disabled son. She adored her grandchildren, their spouses, and her great-grandchildren. She was loved by most who met and associated with her and will be missed for her quick wit, knowledge, humor, and generosity. She always remained a true and loyal "Brit" to her native homeland all her days. Farwell and Godspeed to you and your new adventure.
In addition to her loving husband, Donald, of 62 years, she is survived by her son Christopher Gehrlein, granddaughter, Jennifer Kelly and her husband Michael, grandson, Christopher Gehrlein and his wife Rachel, granddaughter, Meghan Jones and her husband Aaron, three great-grandchildren; twins Owen and Gwendolyn, and Nolan Kelly, four sisters-in-law; Dorthy Gehrlein, Rachel Holtz, Agnes Fogle, and Arlene Orgenia and her husband John, brother-in-law, Frank Gehrlein and his wife Theresa, dear Aunt Rose "Topsy" Freeman and dear Uncle Robert Alderton both of London, many nieces and nephews and their families, cousin, Doreen O' Kean of Totowa, New Jersey, numerous loving relatives and cousins, especially Sylvia Davis and Jeanne Francis, friends in England, longtime neighbor Audrey Greco, and her dear friends Rita and Florie of Toronto, Canada.
Private burial was held at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road.
