The Rev. James Kenneth Moelk, of Erie, formerly of Pittsburgh, went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the age of 69. He was the loving husband to Jaye Klein Moelk for 48 years and the loving father of Janel Kristen Messmer, James Klein Moelk (Rebecca), Jocelyn Kathryn Clyde (Michael) and Yolande Joseph Taylor (Heath). He is survived by 13 grandchildren, Katy, Gabe and Colten (Janel), Sheldon and Janie (James), Dan, Charley, Adeline, Ethan and Maxwell (Jocelyn), Cameron, Kamyra and Kaylee (Yolande). He is further survived by his mother, Elizabeth Alexander Moelk; his sister, Laurie Elizabeth Williams (Martin); and brother, Gary William Moelk (Nancy). He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Wayne Moelk
Jim graduated from Abilene Christian University, then did campus ministry with his wife, Jaye, with the CCO in Waynesburg, PA. After graduating from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, he started his pastoral ministry at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Erie, PA. He was the founding co-pastor of Church of the Cross in Erie, where he served for over 20 years. After retirement, he enjoyed being a part of the life and ministry of Redeemer Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, doing carpentry, walking with his dogs, and most importantly continuing to grow in his faith and love for Christ.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm and are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at 11 am, at Weis Library Church, 6020 Heidler Road, (where Redeemer Evangelical Presbyterian Church meets). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to Redeemer Evangelical Presbyterian Church, c/o 650 West 7th Street, Erie, PA 16502, to benefit the Edunation Program, which feeds students in schools in Sierra Leone or to the CCO Campus Ministry at Penn West (former Edinboro University), c/o 5912 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
