James “Jim” R. Gardner
James “Jim” R. Gardner, age 96, of Millcreek Twp., passed into the arms of the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2023, holding the hand of his bride of 72 years and surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie, PA on April 19, 1926, the son of the late Joseph J. and Alice M. Brooks Gardner.
Jim served in the US Navy during WW II and was employed at and retired from Hytech Industries. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed repair maintenance activities, he made and gave away over 100 jar openers, and for many years he and his wife enjoyed spending time at the Lutheran House at Chautauqua Institute.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by one grandson, Scott C. Hornyak, one sister, Florence Miller, and one daughter-in-law Lori Gardner.
He is survived by his beloved wife Nola “Noni” Huegel Gardner, five daughters: Kathleen A. Masters (David) of Edinboro, Deborah M. Mager (John) of McKean, PA, Cheryl D. Pacak (Eugene) of McKean, PA, Constance L. Hornyak (Ronald) of Naperville, IL, Noreen C. Ciano (John) of Elizabeth, NJ, two sons; Dale P. Gardner (Kim) of Lake City, Wayne Gardner and his deceased wife Lori of Erie, his former sons-in-law; Alan Zindel, Gary Rambish, 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday January 8, 2023 from 3 pm until 7 pm and again on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 10 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
Interment Sterrettania Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to Trinity Lutheran Church, 4950 N. Main Street, McKean, PA 16426.
