Obituary of Margaret M. Shaner

Margaret M. Shaner, age 77, of Erie, passed away on Saturday March 11, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Erie on August 21, 1945, a daughter of the late William J. Schnelzer and Carolyn Davis Schnelzer Killian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald S. Shaner in 2015, and one sister Lucia Johnson. She graduated from St. Benedict High School. Margaret enjoyed flowers including, roses, daffodils and lilacs, especially if they were purple. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Margaret is survived by her three children, Hope Shaner Donato of Charlotte, NC, Donald (Theresa) Shaner of Girard, PA and Christopher (Rebecca) Shaner of Girard, PA; four grandchildren, David, Caitlin, Cassandra and Nicholas; siblings, Martin J. (Yvonne) Schnelzer, Larry (Cynthia) Schnelzer and Marie (William) Manny and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services are private and being held at the convenience of the family with Interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
