Obituary of G. Gary Conaway

G. Gary Conaway G. Gary Conaway, age 91, of Millcreek Twp., was reunited with his wife of 59 years, Rita, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. He was a 1954 graduate of Grove City College where he was on the swim team setting several swimming records. Gary served in the US Navy because of his love for swimming. He and his wife visited Erie on their honeymoon and decided to make it their home. Summer evenings were spent with his family at Presque Isle. He worked hard to take care of his family and retired from International Paper Co. in 2000. He is survived by one son, Scott, one daughter Kelly (Elaine) of Clifton Park, NY, one grandson Joshua, one great-granddaughter Lilli, and one sister Sandy Shelly of Gettysburg, PA. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 4 pm until 7 pm. Private interment at Erie County Memorial Gardens. Gary enjoyed home baked pies, cakes, and cookies were his favorite, so to honor that, the family asks that donations in Gary’s name be given to the Second Harvest Food Bank, 1507 Grimm Dr., Erie, PA 16501, to help others in need.
