Howard W. Gorman
Howard W. Gorman, age 97, of the Regency at South Shore, Erie, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023.
He was born on July 30, 1925, the son of the late Rexford and Genevieve Merket Gorman.
He served in the US Navy on board the USS Midway during WWII.
Howard was a graduate of Yale University and then was employed at GE for 40 years as an engineer in product service in the DC Motors Dept. He retired in 1986.
Besides working in Erie, he also was assigned work in Philadelphia, PA, Schenectady, NY, and Roanoke, VA.
Howard was an active member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as an Elder and then as a Church Administrator.
Howard was a lover of Classical music being a season ticket holder for the Erie Philharmonic, he was an avid woodworker making furniture for his family and friends, and he loved gardening, reading, golfing, and hunting.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Norton Gorman, his second wife Audrey Brewer Gorman, and one brother Dale Gorman.
He is survived by two daughters; Diane Bardsley (Timothy) of Sturbridge, MA, Peggy Silvis (Craig) of Erie, two sons; Paul Gorman (Jodi) of MD, Dr. Timothy Gorman (Kari) of Westfield, NY, his best friend and companion, Loretta Legenzoff, two step-daughters; Linda Sullivan (Tim) of Erie, Susan Hall of Erie, 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one niece, Darlene Kraut and one nephew, Dan Gorman.
Friends may call at Grace Church, 7300 Grubb Road, McKean, PA 16426, on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 10 am until 11:30 am, with a funeral Service there at 12 Noon conducted by the Rev. Richard Page. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery with full military honors. All arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the VNA Hospice for their loving care of Howard.
