Gary Frederick Bauschard Gary Frederick Bauschard, age 76, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Hamot Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Erie on October 21, 1946, the son of the late Otto and Marie (Brown) Bauschard and the son-in-law of the late Angela Zuraw. He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and served in the Pacific Theater from 1966 to 1970, serving two tours to Vietnam. He served on the USS FIRM and the USS Denver. On June 20, 1970, he married the love of his life, Nancie (Zuraw) Bauschard, who he took to his senior prom in 1964. They were married for 53 years and together for 60 years. In 1998, Gary retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) as a District Manager after 29 years of service. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and attending all of his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, sporting events, and parties. He was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Peace and he spent over 20 years in service to it, running, with his wife, Friday night bingo; leading the Boy Scout troop; serving on the school board; working concessions; supporting the PTA; and generally being available for anything the church, the school, or anyone associated with it needed from him. He rarely missed a Sunday Mass and valued his relationship with the clergy and all members of the religious order. He is a proud husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, his survivors include all of those who were surrounded by his love and selfless care; his children and their spouses who loved him and cared deeply for him; Stefan of Cumberland, Rhode Island, Aaron (Stephanie) of Rochester, New York, and Nathan (Christina), Bryan (Jennie) and Amy, all of Erie; his 9 grandchildren; Ryan, Angela, Brendan, Stella, Nolan, Lydia, Evan, Lyla and Cayla. He is further survived by his brother David (Patti) of South Carolina, brother-in-law John (Nancy) Zuraw of Roanoke, VA, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
