Obituary of Jeanne Gierach

Jeanne Louise Gierach Jeanne Louise Gierach, age 91, a residence of Springhill Assisted Living/Oakview in Erie, PA, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Forestview Skilled Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born on October 18, 1917 in Chicago Heights, IL, the daughter of the late Birger and Ida Salzwedel Setterblade. She was employed at American Brake Shoe in Chicago Heights, IL and was a homemaker. Jeanne enjoyed corresponding with family and friends through email on web TV keeping them updated on events and news. She was a devout Lutheran and belonged to a number of churches where she sang in the choir, played the organ, and acted as church secretary. She also enjoyed needle point, crossword puzzles, and raising her five children. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Gierach, who died in 2006, one brother, Russell Setterblade, and a daughter, Nancy Jeanne (Mrs. Douglas E. Johnson). She is survived by three sons, Charles F. Gierach and his wife, Karen, of Fairview, PA, Richard R. Gierach and his wife, Libby, of Hilliard, OH, David J. Gierach and his wife, Lynn, of Lewistown, NY; one daughter, Mary S. Sgambati and her husband, David A., of Stillwater, NY; ten grandchildren: Gretchen Gierach Benson and her husband, Andrew, Kimberlee Gierach Bement and her husband, Daniel, Charles V. Gierach and his wife, Katie, Courtney Gierach Smyser and her husband, Rob, Adam and Jill Gierach, Kathryn and Bryan Johnson, Jamie Marie and Christopher Charles Sgambati, and one great-grandchild, Natalia Jeanne Johnson. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. A Memorial Service will be held in the near future for all friends and family to attend and will be announced in the paper. Interment will take place in Lewistown, NY at the convenience of the family.
