Please share a memory of Edwin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edwin Madison Manchester, Jr, age 86 of Millcreek Twp., passed away at UPMC-Hamot, surrounded by his loving family on Monday June 26, 2023. Edwin was born in Akron, Ohio on September 4, 1936, the son of the late Edwin Madison Manchester and Mary (Maker) Manchester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Leona Bernard Manchester and siblings, Richard Manchester and John Manchester. Edwin worked as a Terminal Manager for Roadway Express for over 40 years, starting in Akron, Ohio and was transferred to Erie in 1977. This is where he met the love of his life, Frances Leona Bernard Manchester, whom he married on May 4, 1957. They moved to Millcreek Twp. in 1977, where they were members in multiple golf leagues at Lake Shore Country Club for 32 years. He was a longtime Eucharistic minister and member of St. Julia Roman Catholic Church, and longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. Edwin served in the United States Army during the Korean War and participated in the ROTC. Edwin had unconditional love for his wife and went to the cemetery at Laurel Hill every day to pray the rosary for her. One day 1 ½ years ago the snow was so deep and the cemetery was unable to plow, so Edwin went to Dusckas-Martin parking lot to pray the rosary. This was a daily ritual and by his habits and example of Love for Christ, his children and grandchildren have learned the love of daily prayer and kindness to one another. Edwin is survived by their children, Marie Manchester Conrad, Robert (Denise) Manchester, Victoria (Keith) Ryan and Donna (Phil) Sorensen; grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Neil, Cameron, Alaina, Madison, Josh, Brandon, Evelyn, Philip and Michael; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Impulae, Chloe, Addison, Pypar, Tyra, Dylan, Morgan, Taylor Grace, Jack, Antony, Logan, Hailey, Elliana, Easton and Murphy; and great-great-grandchildren, Bohdi and Ava. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to UMPC-Hamot MICU for the compassionate care and support provided to our father and the family. A special thank you to Dr. Cordero Torres and Dr. Racedo. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506, on Thursday June 29th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 8:00 PM and are invited to a Funeral Mass on Friday morning June 30th at 10:00 AM at St. Julia Roman Catholic Church 638 Roslyn Ave. Erie, PA 16505.
