Theodore “Ted” Paul Marnen
Theodore (Ted) Paul Marnen, age 75, of Millcreek Twp. passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at UPMC-Hamot after a brief illness. He was born in Meadville, PA, on March 10, 1948 and moved to Erie as a toddler with his family.
Ted was a 1966 graduate of Strong Vincent H.S. and served 30 years as a City of Erie Police Officer and retired as a Lieutenant. In addition to serving the people of Erie, he served as the President of the FOP for 4 years. He was Treasurer of the FOP Pension Fund for 16 years and Vice Chairman of the aggregate Pension Board.
After retiring from the EPD, Ted began his second career with Gannon University as the Assistant Director and promoted to Director of the Gannon Security Division until his final retirement in 2017. He served as an adjunct professor at the University upon completion of his BA degree in 2009.
Ted loved spending time with his wife Patty of 45 years, his three children, and grandchildren, golfing with his buddies, and hitting up the casinos. The man loved a great Manhattan over a good conversation with his favorite people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys (Earley) Marnen and Paul Marnen.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Patty, his children: Paul (Megan), Andrea, and Ryan (Jill), as well as, his grandchildren: Lucy, Delaney, Parker, Emma, and Jobie, his brother, James (Jim) and wife Adrien, niece Corey (Andrew) Kloecker, nephew, Daniel Marnen, and great-nephews; David Kloecker and Adam and Pierce Marnen.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 3 pm until 7 pm and are invited there on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 9:15 am for prayers, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 2401 West 38th Street, at 10am. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
