Obituary of Eleanor "Ellie" Marie Perry

Eleanor “Ellie” Perry Eleanor “Ellie” Perry, age 73, of Millcreek Township, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at UPMC Hamot, surrounded by her four loving sons. Ellie was born in Erie on January 21, 1950, the daughter of the late Robert and Marie Mitchell. She graduated from Harborcreek High School in 1969 and was a graduate of the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in 1972. She spent her career caring for others as a Registered Nurse at Hamot Medical Center, where Ellie proudly worked as a labor and delivery nurse until her retirement from nursing in 2003. As a care giver, she was also an organ donor, comforted in the knowledge that she would be able to continue helping others after her passing. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millcreek Twp. Throughout her life, Ellie was a caregiver, an avid bowler, a loving mother and wife, and a close friend to many. Ellie is survived by her four sons, Jason Perry of Erie, James (Paula) Perry of Avon, OH, Jonathan (Jennifer) Perry of Erie, and Joshua Perry of Erie; two grandsons, Oliver and Wyatt Perry of Avon, OH; one sister-in-law Catherine (Thomas) Krill of Port St. Lucie, FL, and many lifelong friends, including Sandra Aberant of Erie. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William ‘Bill’ Perry, brother Richard Mitchell, and daughter-in-law Abby Perry. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory at 4216 Sterrettania Road, on Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 2 – 5pm with a funeral service directly following. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Ellie loved flowers and would appreciate being surrounded by their beauty during her service, but memorial contributions can also be made to the Hamot Health Foundation, located at 100 State Street, Suite 510, Erie, PA 16507 where funds will be used to promote nursing education. As a retired nurse, Ellie would also want to show her appreciation for the healthcare workers at Walnut Ridge Healthcare Center and UPMC Hamot who cared for her in recent months
