Obituary of Lloyd Burson

Lloyd Burson Lloyd Burson of Summit Township, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, after a long battle of Parkinson Disease. Born in Negley, Ohio to Ralph and Mary Burson, Lloyd and his twin brother Floyd were adopted at birth by (Ralph’s brother) Frederick and his wife Ivy Burson after the passing of their mother. After the passing of Frederick and Ivy, Goldie (Ivy’s Sister) and husband Floyd Mayes became guardian parents and raised the boys until they graduated from Western Beaver High School in Industry, PA. Lloyd enlisted in the US Marine Corps and was a Vietnam War Veteran. Receiving training in Parris Island, SC, Camp LeJeune, NC, Camps Hanson and Sukiran in Okinawa, Camp Fuji in Japan, Spain, the Mediterranean, France, and Italy. Sgt. Burson’s tour of duty concluded at Danang Air Base in Vietnam. He was a PA State Trooper and performed in the PA State Police Field Exhibition, more commonly known as the PA State Police Rodeos, before it was discontinued in 1974. He then worked and retired from General Electric Transportation Systems. He was a member of the Local Union 506. In his free time, Lloyd enjoyed and led several Puppeteer Ministries over the years as well as taught Sunday School classes for several churches. He was a member of the Grace Calvary Baptist Church in Erie, Pa and Dayspring T4T Ministries of Hickory, NC. Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Barbara Mosura Burson and their children: Lloyd Daniel Burson, Frederick Timothy (Sidnie) Burson, Patricia (William) Burson-Dorman, Priscilla Schack with son-in-law Matthew Schack, all of Pennsylvania. One brother James Burson of Ohio. He also leaves 18 grandchildren including their spouses and seven great-grandchildren. Lloyd was proceeded in death after his parents and guardians. Four brothers: Edwin Burson of Wisconsin, Howard Burson of Maine, John Burson of Ohio, Floyd Burson of Pennsylvania. Two sisters: Lenore Burson Smith of Ohio and Ellen Burson Garey of Kentucky. Friends may call on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 4 pm until time of service at 7 pm at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA 16506. Private interment will be held at Erie County Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 9 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home.
