Obituary of Janice E. Holmes

Janice E. Dolan Chermack Holmes Janice E. Dolan Chermack Holmes, age 86, of McKean Twp., passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 after an extended illness. She was born in Erie on July 5, 1937, the daughter of the late John and Fern (Finn) Dolan and Wallace and Fern (Finn) Theubet. Janice was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW serving as President in 1995-1996, a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star, she was the first lady of the Zem Zem Shrine in 2007, was a scout leader and a PTA member for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, going to the Casino, and taking bus tours. Besides her parents, Janice was preceded in death by one sister Patricia Longo, one brother Ralph Dolan, and one great grandson Jasper Holmes. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Carl A. Holmes, her children: Carol Bebko (Don), Debra Chermack, Brenda Burnnett (Mark), Marian Sayers (Greg), Christine Lemke, and Carl Holmes (Stephanie), two sisters; Lois Manning, Barbara Arpin, one brother Melvin “Butch” Dolan, and 26 grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 3 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 6 pm. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
