Ruth C. Webster
Ruth C. Webster, 80, of Philipsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Ruth was a 1961 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area H.S. and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Clarion University. Ruth enjoyed a long career of teaching, first at North Lincoln Hill and later at Ninth Street Elementary, from which she retired in 2002.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and she was an active and devoted member of The First Baptist Church of Philipsburg. Her dedication extended to staffing the church’s nursery during services, a role she fulfilled until recent years.
Beyond her academic and spiritual pursuits, Ruth was an avid sports fan. She could often be found cheering on the Steelers, Pirates, and her beloved Nittany Lions. She loved nothing more than taking care of her home and family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Mariel Fowler Carson and Woodrow Carson of Philipsburg, as well as her sister, Carol Manser (Rich), her husband, Rodger Webster, and her dear friend and partner, Jack Hogan.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Michael Webster (Christina) of Erie and Scott Webster (Leeann) of Centre Hall. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kristen Frye (Paul) of Cleveland, Nick Webster (Melissa) of Pittsburgh, Anna Silvaggi-Webster, Carson Webster, and Emmy Webster.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Philipsburg in the near future.
The Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. handled all arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Emily Whitehead Foundation (https://emilywhiteheadfoundation.org/donate) or The First Baptist Church of Philipsburg, 214 East Beaver Street, Philipsburg, PA 16866.
