Obituary of Margaret Davies Ott
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Davies Ott, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 surrounded by family. She was born on April 1, 1941 in Peterborough, England, the daughter of the late Jenkins Davies and Hughina Barriskell Davies.
Margaret was the devoted mother of Norma Zimmer (Chris), Raymond Ott (Debbie), and Rebecca Borden (Brian) all of Erie. She was “Nana” to 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Flora Randall (Alan) of Adelaide, Australia, former husband, Raymond Ott (Patti) of Erie, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Ott (Kelly) of Springhill Florida, her great granddaughter, Elizabeth Wright, of Louisiana, and her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Smith (Richard) of Melbourne, Australia.
After high school she worked at the RAF Alconbury Airforce Base where she met Raymond. She came to the United States in 1965 where she raised her family. In later years, she retired from St. Mary’s Home of Erie after 25 plus years. Before dementia took away her mind, Margaret had a quick wit, wonderful sense of humor (always shared in her lovely English accent), and truly enjoyed the simple things. She had a great talent for knitting and crocheting and was known for the beautiful christening outfits she created. She had a great love for her grandchildren and babies. She spent a few years as a foster mother to babies while she was raising her own children. She loved to travel especially to Florida. Her favorite trips were those she made to Australia to visit her sisters. She was truly a unique, sweet, and caring woman who will be missed and cherished by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution in Margaret’s name may be made to Linked By Pink P.O. Box 8177 Erie, PA 16505. Margaret was a breast cancer survivor and an avid supporter of this charity.
Special thanks to From The Heart Northwest and Lakeland Hospice for their wonderful care. A private service was held at the convenience of the family by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
“Good night, sweet dreams, God bless you”.
