Ronald Wayne McClelland
Ronald Wayne McClelland, age 65, of Franklin Twp., went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Ron died unexpectedly, surrounded by his family. Ron was born in Erie on May 15, 1958, the son of the late Robert C. and Gladys Crosby McClelland. He played as a lineman on the football team for Harborcreek High School, from which he graduated in 1976. While in school, Ron served as a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and specialized in small engine repair.
After an 11-year career at Hammermill, Ron successfully started his own business in residential construction and later transitioned to commercial project management. He served for 38 years as a faithful member of the local church in the capacity of Sunday school teacher and deacon. Ron’s primary focus and greatest fulfillment was found in spending quality time with his family. This was frequently prioritized through shared experiences in God’s creation, including hunting. A born leader, Ron could often be found imparting wisdom to the next generation. His daily commitment to being in God’s Word led him to pattern his life after Proverbs 30:7-9, “Two things have I required of thee; deny them not to me before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me, Lest I be full, and deny thee and say, Who is the LORD? Or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.”
Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brothers; Robert and Infant R.C.G.L. McClelland; father-in-law Anthony L. Taccone; and sister-in-law Isavel McClelland. He is survived by his loving wife and helpmate of 45 years, Nancy Taccone McClelland and four children, Adam P.; Jacob A. (Jacquelynne) and their sons, Gabriel and Logan; Caleb M. (Alyssa) and their son, Levi; and Katelyn G.; brother, Russell G. of Erie, PA; mother-in-law Janice Taccone of Erie, PA; brother-in-law Anthony R. Taccone (Sally) of Wexford, PA; sister-in-law Christine Hemme (Brian) of Waterford, PA; sister-in-law Christine McClelland of Erie, PA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and church family.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2023 and are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Garden Heights Baptist Church on Monday, October 16, at 10 a.m. conducted by Pastor Jonathan Wagner.
